Description
Mares Airmatic Planet 88X TBP Regulator – Effortless Air at Any Depth.
The Mares Planet 88X TBP represents the most advanced regulator system Mares has ever produced. First and foremost, it delivers Natural Breathing 2.0, creating an airflow that feels smooth, immediate, and completely natural. From the first inhale to the last exhale, breathing feels effortless.
At the center of this performance is Airmatic Technology. Unlike conventional second stages, the Planet eliminates traditional mechanical springs. Instead, it uses a fully pneumatic valve controlled by intermediate pressure. As a result, breathing resistance drops dramatically, at the same time as internal wear decreasing and improving long-term reliability.
Because Airmatic Technology reduces moving parts, the regulator responds instantly to your breathing demand. This means, air arrives only when needed and stops precisely when you stop inhaling. This creates a calm, controlled breathing rhythm, even under stress or heavy workload.
In addition, Mares integrates VAD – Vortex Assisted Design into the second stage channels airflow directly to the mouthpiece. Airflow remains strong and consistent at all depths, whether you are drifting along shallow reefs, descending into the deep or venturing into cold wrecks.
The Planet second stage also uses All Metal Technology. This metal construction improves thermal conductivity. As a result, it helps prevent freezing in cold water at the same time as increasing durability for demanding dive environments. A manual override button allows the diver to fine-tune airflow, while the side-mounted pivoting purge button stays easy to locate, even with thick gloves.
To complete the system, the Planet second stage pairs with the 88X TBP first stage. This first stage is built specifically for cold and contaminated water diving. Thanks to the TBP Dry Kit, the internal mechanism remains environmentally sealed so silt, sand, and cold water cannot interfere with performance.
Furthermore, Auto Sealing Technology (AST) automatically closes the first stage when disconnected from the tank. As a result, water and dirt stay out during setup and transport. Meanwhile, Natural DFC on all low-pressure ports ensures maximum air delivery, even during deep dives or high gas demand.
The 88X TBP first stage also offers excellent hose routing. A swivel turret with four LP ports, plus a fifth inline LP port, provides flexible configurations whilst the two angled HP ports allow clean and stress-free hose positioning.
For added safety, the integrated Overpressure Valve (OPV) protects the system in the rare event of intermediate pressure increase.
Finally, the hexagonal DIN wheel ensures a secure grip. It prevents slipping, even when wet or while wearing gloves. Combined with its all-metal Pearl Chrome finish, the regulator delivers both durability and a premium appearance.
The Mares Planet 88X TBP is designed for divers who demand innovation, comfort, and absolute reliability. It excels in cold water, deep dives, and technical conditions. At the same time, it provides effortless breathing for relaxed recreational dives. Wherever you dive, this regulator delivers confidence with every breath.
