Esea Strap Rapid Release SUP Waist Belt / Leash and Carry Strap. Designed for use on fast flowing water this SUP leash secures the SUP to the rider around the waist rather than ankle or calf. This makes the quick release easier to access in fast moving water and thereby increases the safety of the leash by enabling the paddler to disconnect from the SUP quicker and easier in an emergency situation.
The Esea Strap Rapid Release also doubles as a SUP carry strap which makes this product unique and really innovative allowing the paddler to carry their board to the river ith the same dvice as you use to connect the board to yourself, thereby not having extra kit to transport and look after!

All Esea Strap leashes are elasticated and made from ultra-strong marine strength shock cord and webbing, this is not only an integral part of their unique carry system but also helps prevent the leash from dragging in the water whilst in use, which in turn reduces the likelihood of snagging on anything in the water that may cause an accident.
The ESEA STRAP Rapid Release Waist Belt comes in four size options to cater for paddle boards between the sizes of 9ft and 12ft 6Inch, however the largest leash has been proven to work effectively on slimmer race/touring shape paddle boards up to 14ft!
The Waist Belt has two Rapid Release toggles. The primary release option is on the buckle located directly at the front of the waist belt, simply pull the red toggle and the buckle releases and the belt can be removed.
The secondary release option is Velcro and is located to the left of the buckle. Should for whatever reason the Primary release option fail or a faster escape from the belt is required, the secondary toggle can be ripped with one strong pull and the entire belt will fall away.
Another important design feature on all Esea Strap leashes is the extendable webbed leash itself. The beauty of this is that the leash does not drag in the water when in use, this is important because it€™s entirely possible the reason you need to release your leash would be that it has got caught on something in the water. The elasticated leash helps avoid this all together.
Just like The Original Esea Strap Leash, the Rapid Release Waist Belt has the built in carry loop for your paddle board with the same handy, adjustable buckle on the nose loop which allows you to slacken or tighten depending on the shape of your paddle board. This is really useful and important to adjust to find that optimum position for carrying your SUP.
Why Use A SUP Waist Belt Rather Than An Ankle/Calf Leash?
Whats the issue with fast flowing water and a standard SUP leash? If you’re paddling in a river with a lot of tide, currents and fast moving water that perhaps has additional hazards such as moorings, pontoons or other fixed obstacles and happen to come off your board it is possible for the paddler and board to go either side of a mooring buoy for example.
In this situation we might not think quickly or clearly, maybe stressed and panic. Therefore reaching to your ankle leash to release it might be difficult or impossible as the fast water holds the rider and board on oppostie sides of the mooring.
With the Esea Strap Rapid Release Waist Belt reaching the quick release n your waist is simple and is never out of reach. The belt also has to quick release triggers so 2 opportunities to release it. Once released the rider and board can rejoin each down stream of the mooring or obstacle!
