Underwater strobes (like a camera flash / flash gun) and video lights balance the way light is absorbed below the waves, by creating artificial light and improving your imagery. Without the use of an underwater strobe or light, imagery tends to be void of colours – reds, yellows, oranges (especially as you descend below circa 10m) and will simply end up displaying a dull, flat and quite depressing blue hue all over!
